Sahal University Grading System
Overview of Grading System
Sahal University follows a grading system that reflects students' academic performance in their courses. The grading system is designed to measure students' knowledge and skills, ensuring that all academic achievements are evaluated accurately and fairly.
Our grading scale is based on a 4.0 GPA system, and the following scale is used to determine the final grade for each course. The letter grades are assigned according to the percentage of marks achieved by the student, with the following grading scale:
Grading Scale
Letter Grade | Grade Points (GPA) | Percentage | Remarks |
---|---|---|---|
A | 4.0 | 85% - 100% | Excellent |
B+ | 3.5 | 75% - 84% | Very Good |
B | 3.0 | 65% - 74% | Good |
C+ | 2.5 | 55% - 64% | Average |
C | 2.0 | 50% - 54% | Pass |
D+ | 1.5 | 45% - 49% | Below Average |
D | 1.0 | 40% - 44% | Marginal |
F | 0.0 | Below 40% | Fail |
How Marks are Divided
The final grade in each course is determined by the following breakdown of marks:
Assessment | Weight (%) |
---|---|
Final Exam | 70% |
Continuous Assessment Test (CAT) | 20% |
Attendance (ATT) | 10% |
This division ensures that students are assessed on their overall performance, including both their final understanding of the course material (Final Exam), their engagement throughout the course (CAT), and their commitment to attending classes (Attendance).
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
The CGPA is the weighted average of the grade points earned in all completed courses. It is calculated by dividing the total grade points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted. The CGPA is used to assess a student's overall academic performance throughout their program of study.
Each course grade contributes to the student’s CGPA according to the number of credit hours assigned to that course. The CGPA is used to evaluate the eligibility for academic honors, probation, or dismissal from the university based on academic performance.
